Under 13 Success in Cross Country

*27/3/09 Under 13 Boys Take Wessex League Grand Slam

The final Wessex League fixture at Ringwood on 22 March brought further BAC success. Once again the U13 boys' team won their 2.8k race, with the familiar three - Declan Toth (3rd in 10:08), Sam Walrond (5th in 10:17) and Brendan Kirkton (8th in 11:09) - comprising the team. Their victory ensured that BAC finished first in the season's final standings, with Sam being in overall second place, and Declan third.

Emma Butterworth has also had an outstanding season in the U13 girls category. At Ringwood, Emma completed the 2.1k course in 7:45, to finish second, thus clinching the overall second spot for the season.

Many congratulations to our youngsters for their achievements!

There were other excellent runs by BAC athletes at Ringwood. Mention has already been made of Rob McTaggart, who came second in the 9.5k senior men's race in 32:28, and in the U13 boys' race David Long was a very creditable 6th over the 4.3k course, in a time of 16:01.

Further to the item which has already appeared about the Inter-Counties Cross Country Championship at Nottingham on March 7, mention should be made of Fergus O'Reilly, who was 37th out of 303 in the U15 boys' race (4.5k in a time of 15:55), and also of Susie Hignett, who was competing in a BAC vest, who finished an excellent 9th in the 8k senior women's race in a time of 29:21.
