BAC Fourth In South West
*20/10/08 Road Relays - Bournemouth AC finished fourth from the clubs in the South West come the end of this year's six-stage road relay championships. Bristol & West AC were honoured with that accolade having qualified from the Midlands section with Wells City second and Cheltenham third.

It was the first time in recent years the club has raised a team for the national event and once again the end result relied upon a strong team performance with no superstars on hand to make an impact.

Jon Sharkey's 19:53 had the team in 41st place after leg one of the Southern qualifiers. However as other teams began to field weaker athletes, BAC moved up the rankings with Steve Way and Ian White also clocking under twenty minutes and nobody going over twenty-one.

Come the Nationals the team was slightly weaker due to unavailability, but Laurent Kelly and Andy Jennings stepped in to produce solid runs. Along with John Broom and Steve Way, the final four runners all improved the team's position with strong consistency once again kicking in and Mike Hammacott showing the greatest improvement from the Southerns.

ERRA National Six Stage Road Relays:
Bournemouth AC 2:01:42
Jon Sharkey 19:39, Mike Hammacott 20:07, John Broom 20:23, Laurent Kelly 21:00, Andy Jennings 21:06, Steve Way 19:27.
