Report and results from the Eastleigh 10k and Reading Half Marathon*30/3/09 Club championship scores shaken up - The top of the club championship standings look rather different after a phenomenal weekend of racing. A number of the County's top runners ventured outside of Dorset this weekend to nail a performance over 10k or Half Marathon and it was no different for the boys in the blue and yellow of Bournemouth AC.At Eastleigh Rob McTaggart led the way with a 32:49 personal best on the road leading home three other Dorset lads within the next seven positions. The third of those was Phil Mosley, who at 33:02, ran his fastest 10k since 2004. For the vets, Mark Hargreaves struggled with achilles and thigh problems, but combined with V50 Simon Hunt's second best 10k outing since 2005, the team finished third behind Herne Hill and Southampton. Performance of the weekend goes to Steve Way at the Reading Half Marathon. Setting new PBs for 10k and 10 miles en route, Way clocked 68:08. From Dorset, only Williard Chinhanhu has beaten that time within the last five years and it may be more comprehensive if detailed records went back to the turn of the century. Jon Sharkey also set a 10 mile best (55:20) on the way to a 72:45 Half Marathon PB. Sunday 5 April sees the Southern Twelve
stage. It's the first time in a number of years the club has been able to
send a team. Due to the Bay Half and a couple of injuries we are still
looking for a couple of runners, please
e-mail me if you can run in this
competition and help the club expand the events it competes in and is able
to offer its members. Reading Half Marathon: BAC Results: |
