Portland 10 Mile
*8/7/08 Third straight island win for BAC - Bournemouth AC enjoyed a third straight Portland 10 mile victory with a dominating team performance. Despite adverse weather conditions including heavy winds a strong band of runners went to support their club and were rewarded with seven of the top ten placings.

Dan Merckel from Oxford was a clear winner, but behind him was a sea of yellow and blue. Veteran runner Mark Hargreaves led the way and powered away from Jon Sharkey on the two and a half mile climb to the finish.

Third scorer and fourth overall Ian White was by far the quickest up the hill, but surrendered too big a gap early on to challenge for the podium. John Broom, fifth, debuted for the club although is currently ineligible to score for the team.

Paul Consani set a new personal best clocking 69:18 while Andy Jennings' 61:41 mark will almost certainly be toppled in the flatter acclimes of New Forest next week.

The club championship table has now been updated taking into account the Portland 10. Note that the age gradings are slightly different to the official race results as the data is sourced from a different location.
