Steve Way First Brit At New York
*2/11/08 New York Marathon, Great South Run, Gilly Hilly & Stickler - Steve Way set a narrow PB of 2:35:12 in the New York Marathon finishing as leading male Brit in the process.

Trailing compatriots Alan Macpherson and Tom Crossland by two minutes through 25k, Way’s pacing strategy was the superior of the trio and he overhauled the pair with just one mile remaining.

In the Great South run one week earlier a number of runners improved their ten mile club championship rankings. Pete Gaze won his category in his first race as an M70 clocking 84:52.

Charlotte Penfold had an impressive run finishing eleventh woman in 61:09 while Michell Pank ran 76:03 and Michael Cowham 74:37.

At Fleet over 10k Mark Hargreaves recorded 34:07 as he begins a return to form.

In the Gilly Hilly 7.5 John Broom was second overall finishing in 41:59, twenty seconds behind BAC cross country runner Ian Habgood. Dawn Broom won the women’s race in 48:46 pulling away from Jenny Moore late on.
