New Forest Ten
*14/6/08 - Four runners took part in the New Forest ten mile race comprising a half road and half forest trail circuit. Three of the runners set yearly bests for the club championship while Andy Jennings set a new personal best.

Jennings toppled his Portland time by a minute and a half although was agonisingly close to breaking the hour for the first time. Given the trails on this course it's a case of when rather than if for Andy.

Pete Gaze is still going strong at close to 70 years old and his time of 84:33 made it fifteen runners above the 70% mark in this year's club ten mile championship.

Rob Standley showed his versatility last week competing in the British Masters 800m championships. Fresh from a strong performance over 10k at Poole, Standley looked in good shape for the final winning his heat in 2:05.60.

Standley however missed a medal by one third of a second in the final. His 2:03.47 put him fifth in the 2008 national rankings.

The Senior Men's Track & Field team are still in contention for a national league berth next year after winning the fifth fixture in Ashford, Kent. The current league table shows the squad joint top with Yeovil going into the final fixture.

A win at home on August 2nd will keep alive Championship aspirations with Yeovil up against three of the top ten teams in the last round of matches.
