Report and results from general March racing

Inter-Counties
The Bournemouth Senior Men once again showed their commitment to the County vest by producing the first four scorers at the Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships and World Trials at Nottingham. Steve Way managed a superb 77th place, Ian Habgood and Jon Sharkey were inside the top 200 while John Broom as fourth Dorset scorer helped to ensure the County's best performance in a number of years. Dorset also finished third from the South West Counties.

Wessex League
BAC's intrepid U13 boys' team scored yet another win in the Wessex League fixture at Yeovil on 1 March. Sam Walrond completed the 2.4k course in 10:20 to finish second, closely followed by Declan Toth in 4th place in a time of 10:42. Brendan Kirkton's run of 11:19 in 8th position ensured that the BAC team won the event, and, after 4 events, Sam lies second in his age group. In the U15 boys' race, David Long completed the 3.4k course in 14:16, to finish 4th, and in the U13 girls' race Emma Butterworth was second over the 2.4k course, resulting in Emma's standing of second in her age group after 4 events.

In the final Wessex League fixture at Avon Country Park Rob McTaggart rounded off a high altitude training week in the Pyrenees with a second place in the Senior Men's Race. A news update on how the youngsters faired in the final league standings will follow in due course.

5k Winter Series Time Trial
26 Simon Hunt 18:44, 39 Paul Consani 19:19 (PB), 44 Matt Kiernan 19:25, 108 Gerald Molloy 22:27

Paul Consani added to his 5k PB with a Half Marathon best two days later. Paul ran 1:31:59 at the Balloch to Clydebank Half Marathon in Scotland. Added to his twenty mile best from the Mad March Pukka, it marked a hat-trick of new PBs in eight days.

Salisbury 10
Father and son Will and Joe Price took on the Salisbury Ten. Their respective times of 85:57 and 75:26 have both improved their club championship scores for the distance.

East Hull Twenty
Second claim club members John and Dawn Broom enjoyed a successful outing in the East Hull Twenty Mile road race. John ran under two hours while Dawn's 2 hour and 15 minute effort was enough to top the W45 rankings for 2009.

10 km du Miege Lane
John Boyes and Ian Graham both won their age group categories at this 10km race in Salechan running 38:32 and 41:39 respectively.
