Report and results from the March Hare 20 miles road race*2/3/09 Sweet sixteen enjoy twenty success - Steve Way produced Bournemouth AC’s fourth Mad March win in six years on his twenty mile debut despite only racing half of the course. He joined Mark Hargreaves (2004), Robin Copestick (2006) and Stu Fox (2007) on the top step of the podium with ten mile splits of 58 followed by 55 minutes. Over a minute down on Poole Runners’ George Miller at half way, Steve clawed back the deficit in an exciting second half. Both runners look odds-on for sub 2:30 marathons with George’s even paced run setting him up for a potential win in the Jersey Marathon. In total a sweet sixteen runners from BAC made it a day to remember with seven personal bests to speak of. Stu Fox (returning from injury), Mark Hargreaves (now top of the V45 UK rankings) and Ian Habgood (PB) ensured four entries in the top five. Incoming Phil Mosley debuted with a solid performance while outgoing John Broom ran his final race as a first claim member of the club. Simon Way, Chris Francis and Mike Cowham completed the distance for the first time in a race situation while Ian Graham went third in the V60 UK rankings. See the
