McTaggart & Sharkey lead Dorset charge

*26/10/09 Weather harms times yet again in Portsmouth - Rob McTaggart returned to form with a fine performance at the windswept Great South Run. McTaggart led a group of four Dorset based runners who crossed the line within a minute thanks to an unmatched display of track speed.

His tactics differed from that of team mate Jon Sharkey and the net result was a six second scalp with McTaggart running 55:02 to Jon’s 55:08. In preparing for the gruelling final 3k against the wind, Jon opted for putting time in the bank. He had nothing left when Rob, who had saved a little for the run-in, came past with a quarter of a mile remaining.

Simon Way’s recent improvement was rewarded with yet another personal best as he finished 10th M40 in 63:57 while Michelle Pank completed the ten mile course in 80:15.

In the Milford Five Joe Price was 52nd in 35:23 and Will Price 157th in 44:25.

Times from both the weekend’s ten mile races have been included in the latest club championship standings. Sunday 8 November is the last day to register times for this year’s competition with the club presentation night being held on Saturday 14 November.
