performances from early autumn -
Usually in road races an 8.19 mile followed by a
4.58 mile suggests a lesson in pace judgement is required. But that was not
the case when Andy Jennings ventured to Cumbria and took the race that
describes itself as ‘the hardest road Half Marathon in the country’. Andy
finished around 90 minutes in a race where the winner was a full seven
minutes slower than his personal best.
Rob McTaggart
finished 10th in the Victory Five, being held in September this year rather
than its usual December slot. An official time of 26:28 was below Rob’s
recent standards, although was more than enough to address an out of date
personal best.
Janie
Chapman and Graeme Miller both took on the New Forest Half Marathon.
Graeme finished 14th in 82:49 while Janie finished 4th lady in 91:41.
Triathlon specialist Adam Bardsley, a regular at BAC training sessions, was
7th in 80:51.
Ian
Habgood ventured to Oulton Park in a national ranking duathlon
competition. His running expertise came to the fore as Ian was leading going
into the first transition and eventually finished seventh cementing his
standing as an age group International for Britain at the discipline.
Robin Copestick's
recent improvement in form was emphasised by a fourth place finish in the
Hoburne Five. A former winner of this event, Robbo completed the course in
28:48 three places ahead of Andy Jennings (29:43). Carley Rose was second
lady in 31:45 while Joe Price clocked 33:19 ahead of younger brother James
(41:20).
Mike Cowham set a
new ten mile PB on the way to a Half Marathon best in the Solent Half
Marathon. His final finishing time was 95 minutes - full results weren't
available at the time of writing and reports on a successful first Hampshire
League outing of the season and a medal haul at the British Masters Ten mile
champs will follow later in the week. |
