Dorset Track 10000m
*15/8/08 Yellow Train Steams Ahead - Bournemouth Athletic Club picked up its third and fourth medals over the past three years in this event with a Gold and Silver. A dominant display of front running by Ian White and Jon Sharkey also led to the pair both setting new bests for the distance thanks to consummate pace judgement for the first fifteen of twenty-five laps.

Once the PBs were assured the racing began and the impetus was always on Sharkey to break clear from his faster finishing team mate. White courageously held on to the steadily increasing effort and numerous attacks. White was never out of touching distance and became clear favourite to take Gold when the pair reached 9800m neck and neck.

White's 33:15.7 and Sharkey's 33:19.0 slot 3rd and 4th in the South West for 2008 while we believe that Mike Grist in 3rd place now tops the UK rankings for the M45 category. Robin Copestick was heading for a year best when he had to drop out a mile from the finish with stomach problems.

Meanwhile Steve Way's return from injury allowed him to run the final Summer Series time trial. On the back of three superb races earlier in the summer, Way took second in the series behind Williard Chinhanhu.
