Lelliott, Elkins & Sloane Impress

*28/6/09 Track & Field Youngsters making their mark - This weekend (25 - 30 June) James Lelliott is competing in no less than the World Cup for schools, in Tallinn, Estonia. His coach, Brian Camp, is also in Estonia with him. James is competing in the Long Jump and Javelin, and naturally in due course this website will carry details as to how he got on. In the meantime, we wish James every success.

Another athlete to whom we wish success is Andrew Elkins, who, to the delight of his father, Dennis, and his coach, Andrea Frampton, has been chosen for the England Squad for the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tampere. Further details about this will appear in the next issue of Athletics Weekly (2 July 2009) and on this website. Andrew's father and coach are not the only people delighted with this achievement!

At the Dorset Schools Championships at Kings Park on 13 June, Andrew Elkins' mighty hammer throw of 65.57m was not only a Championship Best Performance, but it smashed his own U17 hammer club record, which had stood at 60.77m. At the same meeting, Matt Sloane's high jump of 2.03m equalled the BAC junior HJ record. Congratulations and well done to both athletes!

At the third Poole Runners summer series time trial at Upton House Simon Way strengthened his lead in the M40 with another category win and personal best. Details of his run can be found on Garmin Connect.

Graeme Miller has been showing steady improvement this year and took 25 seconds off his best time to finish 8th in 20:47. Ian White is also making progress having spent much of 2009 on the treatment table finishing third in 19:35. Peter Russell was 35th in 23:24 while Samantha Moxey took first junior lady in 25:23. Her coach Rob Boyd was 105th in 27:37.
