BOURNEMOUTH AC ROAD AND DISTANCE RUNNING INFORMATION Here is an April update on the 2007/2008 BAC club championship. Click here to go back to our main index page.
Club Championship Update The forty-nine year old clocked 79:50 on a hot day suggesting there could be more to come from the former International who turns fifty in May. Click here for the latest Club Championship tables. Meanwhile Robin Copestick made a jump in the 10k standings thanks to an upturn in form at the Totton 10k. Robbo took two minutes off the time he registered in December and moves within touching distance of climbing the table. Hopefully it won't be too long before Robbo returns to somewhere near his best. The 10k standings could alter dramatically over the next month. There's a strong contingent already entered into the Poole 10k with races at Purbeck and the Egdon Easy prior to the Poole Festival of Running. Still on 10ks, Chris Potter has sent a message to all clubs saying that the always popular Christmas 10k has just 200 places remaining. BAC are also planning a day out to the Chichester 10k in October and the latter could prove the last chance to get a good time for this year's club championship.
The club championship awards annual trophies for the best age related performance at 10k, 10 mile (or close equivalent, Mr Boyes!) and Half Marathon. There are also trophies for the best outright performance at 5000m, 3000m Steeplechase, 10000m and Marathon. The track and field season gets underway on May 3rd with a senior men's division one match at Woking. Anybody interested in taking part in the endurance events throughout the summer should get into contact with Assistant Team Manager Rob McTaggart. The Marathon trophy looks certain to be heading the way of Stuart Fox (pictured) with his sub 2:30 clocking at London. In the last three years the trophy has been won in times of 2:38, 2:44 and 2:57 and this year the club already has three athletes with times bettering 2:39. |
