Bristol Half, The Beast and other recent races

*6/9/09 Fox in the hunt for Steve Way's marathon best - In 2005 JP won the marathon trophy running 2 hours 57 minutes. In 2009 Steve Way's 2 hour 25 minute run in London is far from secure as Stu Fox hones in on Amsterdam in October.

His latest race may not have been on par with that form, but he still took three minutes off a soft Half Marathon PB finishing Bristol in 70:47. There is clearly more to come as this untapered performance came just seven days after a 2 hour 40 minute marathon distance training run!!

Janie Chapman and Graeme Miller both took on the Beast, a brutal off road race from Corfe Castle encompassing twelve miles of multi-terrain madness and some fearsome ascents. Janie was third lady whilst Graeme knocked two minutes off the time he ran last year.

Ian White and Simon Hunt did enough to win their categories at the Poole Runners time trial summer series at Upton House joining Simon Way who had already wrapped up the M40 win by the fourth of six races. Although Simon Hunt was beaten by his nearest rival Hamish Murray, he was close enough to gain victory over the series. Ian White was the most consistent senior man in 2009 his category win ensured that prize went to BAC for the third time in five years.

The Senior Men's Track & Field team showed they could mix it with the best in the country by maintaining British Athletic League Division Three status in the final fixture at Derby. The team held their own throughout the four fixtures having achieved a double promotion last season by-passing BAL Division Four after being crowned Southern League Division One champions.

The club's B team compete in the Southern League Division Three (West), a division Poole Runners achieved promotion from so well done to them.

Andy Jennings was 17th in the Isle of Wight Half Marathon in 87:31, Rob McTaggart was 4th in the Everton 10k in 34:05 and 14 year old Brendan Kirkton was 27th in the Studland 5k in 22:45.
