Report and results from Bournemouth Bay Half Marathon

*10/4/09 Bournemouth take team honours - Duncan Wells celebrated his birthday with a new Half Marathon best in the Bournemouth Bay run as the squad wrapped up team honours in the race.

Two days after his 32nd birthday, Duncan was third scorer in a time of 81:49 on a day where, four weeks out from the London Marathon, runners used the ideal timing to test their fitness ahead of race.

Chris Francis has been steadily improving since the new year and was rewarded with a confidence boosting 91:25 while fourth scorer Andy Jennings returned from the West Indies to record 82:27.

In the top ten, third overall and first vet Mark Hargreaves clocked 74:55 while three places further back, Rob McTaggart marked his first Half Marathon for two and a half years with 77:36.

There was one result we failed to report back in 2007. Submitted to us just this week, Steve Way (pictured!) completed the race in 1 hour and 42 minutes to record a new personal best.

Many thanks to the following volunteers to helped as marshalls on the day. They were John & Rosy Wells, Martin Long, Paul Dowson, Colin Hunt, Hazel Bates, Jemma Bates, Michael Halpenny and Cherry Sheffrin.

Simon Hunt was the first M50 in the Chichester Corporate Challenge on 25 March in a time of 16:03 over a 4.5k course. The winner was a James Baker in 13:28.

Nicholas Hunt won an under 13 national title at the Aviva Sportshall UK final. Hunt, who is ranked third on the all time British Pentathlon rankings for the age group, won the shot putt with a mammoth 12.30m effort. The very best of luck to Nicholas who steps up to Under 15 level for the outdoor summer season.
