Report and results from the Blackmore Vale Half Marathon

*2/2/09 Graham takes the spoils as the team enjoy a win - Despite BAC athletes packing four of the top six places, it was Ian Graham who took the spoils from the Blackmore Vale Half Marathon.

The hilly route, made worse by a wind chill of minus five degrees Centigrade, certainly brought out the fighting spirit amongst a record entry of 550 finishers. Ten of those donned the yellow and blue of Bournemouth and it was Ian Graham who had most to celebrate by the day's end.

Graham was victorious in the over 60 category successfully defending his 2008 title. His time of 93:52 was also enough to top the 2008/2009 club championship from the first wave of this year's entries in the Half Marathon category. Steve Way's 75:01 and Ian White's 76:24 leave the top three less than half of one per cent apart in the WAVA age grading.

Joining Steve and Ian in the top six were Jon Sharkey (74:50) and Ian Habgood (75:46), the latter setting a barnstorming personal best on his first Half Marathon outing for the club. It ensured a comprehensive team victory with Andy Jennings (11th, 79:21) another to record a PB in completing the Dorset League five-to-score team.
