PBs All Round For Marathon Training Group
*16/3/08 Bath Half - Despite an unacceptable one hour delay prior to the start of the race affecting pre-race eating and warm ups, a BAC 'quartet' all plundered personal bests from this fast flat course.

This race simply can't cope with 15,000 runners and the inevitable problems of the day put a dampener on already soggy proceedings. The event ratings page of Runners World says it all - numerously!

Jon Sharkey was first home in 73:51, running over a minute quicker than his last ten mile race at the split and finally putting in a performance to match his marathon mileage.

Ian White was first of forty-four "White's" clocking 76:18. It's a useless stat, but slightly more useful than the drinks stations between eight and twelve miles; unreachable due to an over subscribed multi-lap race. His gun time of 76:22 surpassed Rob McTaggart's best by just one second.

Honorary BAC member James Baulch hit 10k, 10 mile and then half marathon personal bests to finish closely behind in 76:26 - if the official results don't recognise your performance we will ;-)

Matt Kiernan ran a negative split and ducked under two hours with a PB of 1:57:55 despite running in the BUSA indoor champs the day before.

Bath Half: BAC Results
54 Jon Sharkey 73:51. 80 Ian White 76:18, 82 James Baulch (Poole Runners) 76:26, 5873 Matt Kiernan 1:57:55.

Other results from this weekend:

In the high quality Eastleigh 10k Simon Hunt was 2nd M50. The 53-year-old missed out by just two seconds against Phil Guest of Portsmouth Joggers, two years his junior.

Two BAC runners represented the Dorset Senior Men's team at Wollaton Park in the Inter-Counties cross country championships. First claim cross country runner Mark Pittaway edged out Mike Hammacott by one second.
246 Mark Pittaway 46:54, 247 Mike Hammacott 46:55.
