New PBS as winter series 5k kicks off

*19/10/09 Fox on the run - Stu Fox overcame a late cold to set a new personal best in the Amsterdam Marathon. His training had been going almost perfectly until forced to miss the Southern Six stage road relays with a cold although recovered in time to hit the start line somewhere close to his best.

Stu finished 37th in 2:27:14 and everyone at Bournemouth is now looking forward to a showdown with Steve Way in next year's London Marathon.

Conditions were nigh on perfect for the first 5k winter series time trial and Fergus O'Reilly took full advantage. Fergus only turned 16 last month and finished second in 16:10, shaving 30 seconds from his old best. Simon Way's consistent training was rewarded with a 17:48 that is likely to improve throughout the series while youngsters Oliver Teenan (17:58), Daisy Harper Brown (19:29), Joe Price (20:27) and Rose O'Reilly (32:50) also ran.

Two days after the time trial Joe Price conquered the six minute mile barrier for three miles completing a three mile race at Littledown in 17:59, finishing second.
