Bournemouth AC Vs AFC Bournemouth
22/7/08 Hargreaves Humbles AFC Bournemouth - Forty-seven year old Mark Hargreaves proved once again that time doesn't catch up with sportsman at thirty. The phrase life begins at forty would have been far more appropriate given the dominant display against a dozen professional sportsmen on Thursday night.

AFC Bournemouth mustered twelve game souls for the pre-season event and split into two teams of six taking on Bournemouth Athletic Club in a 12k race.

Although the Cherries squad only had to run a distance one sixth of the runners and train every day for their living, the amateurs were still able to put bodies in front of their two teams.

Hargreaves won the race outright overtaking second place Jon Sharkey at the start of the final lap. Ian White sandwiched between the two AFC Bournemouth teams who managed 3rd and 5th placed finishes.

Rob McTaggart, Andy Jennings and Robin Copestick all came close to pipping the second Cherries outfit. Bournemouth AC would like to wish AFC Bournemouth the best of success in the 2008/2009 season and hope that their increased fitness levels pay dividends on the pitch.
